The XIV Vianna da Motta International Music Competition Completes in Lisbon, Portugal

From July 19-July 29, 2001, the XIV edition of the Vianna da Motta Competition took place in Lisbon, Portugal. There were 43 candidates representing 19 countries performing for a 14 member jury representing 9 countries. See below for a list of the finalists and jury members.
The eliminatory rounds and semifinals took place at the Conservatoire Nacional de Lisboa of which José Vianna da Motta was once a director. The final rounds took place in the prestigious Grand Auditorium of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
Much appreciation goes out to all the Candidates, Jury Members and staff, especially Ms. Isabel Telo Mexia the Coordinator of the Competition in Portugal.
The XV edition of the Vianna da Motta International Music Competition will take place in 2004 at Lisbon, Portugal.

Volume III, Beethoven Sonatas by Sequeira Costa released on VDM records
Sequeira Costa has just released the 3rd volume of Beethoven sonatas for VDM records. This is part of his ongoing project to record the complete cycle of the 32 Sonatas by Beethoven. This Volume comprises of Op. 10, Nos. 1,2 & 3 (Sonatas 5, 6, & 7, respectively) and Op. 13 “Pathétique” (Sonata 8).
Sequeira Costa has also just recently completed recording on Volume IV and it should be released by the end of 2001.
